Geoff Johns and Gary Frank return to the apocalyptic world of Geiger for an extraordinary two-issue origin epic. Geiger: Ground Zero follows the adventures of radioactive family man Geiger, who fights to protect his loved ones in a nuclear post-apocalyptic wasteland.
Concept Art
Geiger is a charge character with a strong frame advantage on hit or block. He builds Gear Meter by moving forward and puts out Time Spirals to control space. He can also force opponents into the corner with Cycloid Revolution, a move that does chip damage on counter-hits or blocks. Geiger Ground 0 takes place in the future after an unnamed nuclear war. It centers around a man, even the Nightcrawlers and Organ People fear. The series, written by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank, launched Mad Ghost’s new imprint at Image Comics to critical acclaim. The second issue picks up 20 years after the bunker Geiger’s family was trapped in blew up. Geiger is attacked by scavengers who work for the King of Las Vegas. He defeats them, saves Henry and Hailee, and agrees to take them to NORAD. On the way, they meet up with a colony of irradiated bugs. This is where things get messy.
Character Design
A Geiger counter is a device used to detect radiation. It consists of a moveable inner stainless steel cylinder, half coated with sample carbon and the other half bare. A conductive loop is placed around the cylinder to monitor the change in the background count rate caused by the radiation. The resulting reading is displayed on the screen. The device was created by Tariq Geiger and his two-headed wolf, Barney. Geiger and his family were in Boulder City, Nevada, when nuclear missiles hit the US, causing the Unknown War. Geiger survived the blasts, but his body has changed drastically. He can now survive in the nuclear wasteland without a hazmat suit and has gained the ability to control radioactive elements. Geiger was an instant hit and expanded the post-apocalyptic universe created by Johns and Frank. It even spawned spin-offs like Junkyard Joe and Redcoat. The next expansion for the series, Geiger Ground Zero, will delve into the earliest days of Geiger’s explosive existence.
Storyboards
Storyboarding is translating a script into a series of frames that illustrate the flow and action of your video or animation. This helps to clarify a creative vision and simplify the project planning process. During this step, team members can contribute ideas a single person may not think of. It is also an opportunity to discuss the visual style of a piece. A rough sketch or stick figures can be as influential as professional-quality artwork. Using a storyboard to communicate a design can help the team clarify how users interact with an application or website. For example, the storyboard may reveal that users would benefit from clear system feedback on the login screen. This knowledge can then guide improvements for future releases. Designed for forward-thinking teams, our storyboard maker is easy to share and accessible from anywhere.
