These days, new cars come with a wide variety of technologically advanced systems that do everything from keeping you safe on the road to connecting to your smartphone for a better driving experience. If you’re in the market for a new car, you’ll want to determine which features to look for.
These are just a few examples of the options you’ll have available to you.
Forward Collision Warning
When you’re looking for a new Genesis for sale or any other car, ask the dealership which ones provide a forward collision warning alert system. These systems use radar or optical sensors to determine if you are in danger of running into the car driving in front of you.
In addition to an audible alert, you may see flashing lights on the dash or even feel a vibration in your seat. Keep in mind, though, that the system is only an alert. It won’t automatically apply the brakes, so you’ll still need to take action to ensure you don’t collide when driving.
Automatic High Beams
When you’re trying to drive in very dark conditions but also need to worry about oncoming traffic, turning your high beams on and off can become tiresome. These days, though, many new cars feature automatic high beams.
These systems will automatically turn the high beams on when you need them but can sense when there is oncoming traffic and turn them back off to keep everyone on the road safe. This feature means it’s easier for you to focus on driving, even in the darkest of conditions.
Automatic Emergency Brakes
Another safety benefit that many new cars have these days is an automatic emergency brake system. Similar to the systems used for forward collision alerts, AEB systems use sensors that sense an impending collision and automatically apply the brakes when you need them most.
Upon activation, AEB systems apply the brakes rapidly. Keep in mind that there are two types of systems. One only works at low speeds, such as when you’re in city traffic that is stop-and-go. However, there are also full-speed systems that apply the brakes even in high-speed situations.
CarPlay for Android and Apple
Chances are you’ll need to use your smartphone while you’re on the road from time to time. CarPlay for Android and Apple allows you to do so safely.
Typically, these features appear on your car’s built-in screen. You’ll be able to use it to make phone calls, listen to text messages, and even play your favorite music from your Spotify account or Apple Music account.
Blind Spot Monitoring
Many times, accidents happen because a person is trying to change lanes and doesn’t realize that someone is in their blind spot. Today’s cars often feature technology that monitors your blind spot for you and lets you know when someone is in it.
They do this by using rear sensors on the corners of your car and letting you know when someone is in your path if you are trying to change lanes. You’ll be alerted to other cars via lighting systems on the sides of your windshield or on your side mirrors.
Keep an Eye Out for These Features on Your Car-Shopping Journey
From safety features to easier entertainment integration, today’s cars offer a plethora of technological options for you to choose from. Before searching for a new car, consider which features are most important to you to help narrow your search.
